Healthwatch Cheshire West Statement on Lucy Letby Verdict

Our heartfelt sympathies go out to the families and loved ones of the children who died or came to harm as a result of former neonatal nurse Lucy Letby’s actions at the Countess of Chester Hospital.

Healthwatch Cheshire West will continue to gather and share the experiences and views of local people with colleagues at the Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust to support the current delivery of safe and effective care.

It is vital that lessons are learned so that something like this cannot happen again, and so we welcome the announcement of an independent inquiry into the NHS response and decision-making at the time. We will co-operate fully with the inquiry if we are asked to do so.

Anyone with concerns about any aspect of their care can contact the team at Healthwatch Cheshire West on:

·         0300 323 0006

·         [email protected]

Or contact the Countess of Chester directly to speak to a member of staff or their Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) who will gladly support you. The team can be contacted as follows:

·         01244 366066 or freephone 0800 195 1241 (option 2)

·         [email protected]

·         Call into the PALS office in the main entrance of the Countess, Monday - Friday 9am-5pm.
