About us
Whether it's improving them today or helping to shape them for tomorrow. Healthwatch St Helens is all about local voices being able to influence the delivery and design of local services. Not just people who use them, but anyone who might need to in future.

What is Healthwatch?
Healthwatch is your local watchdog around health & social care services, designed to collect your experiences and represent your views.
Healthwatch St Helens will make sure that the views of the people who use services in St Helens are taken into account by service providers and people who design services for the future.
What Do We Do?
We will carry on the work started by St Helens LINk, but we will also:
- NEED your views and experiences - tell us what you think about services - what is good and what is not.
- Feedback what you say (anonymously) about services so that things change for the better.
- Keep you informed about what is happening in health and social care and help you to navigate through services.
- Look at topics that matter - i.e. good mental health and wellbeing; dementia and support for young people? Tell us what you want.
- Help you with your complaints
- Put your views across to people in charge about your health and social care services and strategic plans.
How Can You Get Involved?
There are many ways you can get involved in and support Healthwatch St Helens:
- Become a member - it is free and you will receive monthly newsletters to keep you informed of what is happening in the local area, around health & social care.
- Tell us your experiences of using local health & social cares services. Your views and experiences help us to identify areas for improvement as well as good practice so we can let services providers and people who design services know what is working and what needs to improve.
- Join our Enter & View team and you could get involved with visits to local hospitals and care homes and make recommendations.
- You could join our Management Committee and help steer the work we’re doing.
- Join a task and finish group around priority areas that we’re focusing on.

What Do You Need?
There are many things that we can help with but we need you to tell us what you need to help you. Here are some suggestions of things we've been asked for in the past: -
- Health services that prepare for my needs e.g. sign language interpreters at the right times in hospital.
- Home care staff that come to my home on time and provide the right amount of care for me.
- Involving me as a carer in making plans before my parent is discharged from hospital.
What else do you need? Tell us!
