St Helens Pride 2024
04/06/2024
St Helens Pride is set to return for a vibrant celebration of love, diversity and equality on Saturday, June 8. The family-friendly event is free to attend and promises an array of activities ranging from entertainment and craft sessions to educational market stalls.
Hosted in The World of Glass, The Marketplace will host a variety of stalls where attendees can access information, freebies, and support related to health and wellbeing. This year’s event focuses in particular on educational outreach, aiming to provide valuable resources to the community.
When it comes to entertainment, the day will feature live performances programmed by MD Productions including dancers, singers, and DJs in The World of Glass garden. There will also be fun activities like treasure hunts and story times for children delivered by St Helens Library Service, who will also deliver crafts funded by St Helens Arts in Libraries.
Miguel Doforo of MD Productions, one of the event’s key organisers, expressed his enthusiasm about the significance of the event: “St Helens Pride is not just a celebration; it’s a profound commitment to fostering understanding and acceptance across our community. This event provides a safe space to educate on LGBT+ issues while enjoying a day filled with joy and unity. We are grateful for the immense support from our delivery partners and stall-holders who have come together to make this day possible.”
Emma Cuerden, Health Improvement Practitioner LGBT & HIV at St Helens Integrated Sexual Health Service added: “I’m excited to be part of St Helens Pride. As an LGBT+ ally and coordinator for the LGBT+ group ‘Over the Rainbow’, which offers support for both young people and parents, I know the importance of coming together to celebrate and embrace the town’s diversity.”
St Helens Pride is an opportunity for everyone to show their support for the LGBT+ community while enjoying a day filled with joy, entertainment, and education. Remember to mark your calendars and bring your family and friends to The World of Glass on June 8th for a day to remember!
St Helens Pride 2024 is being organised by partners including MD Productions, St. Helens Libraries, St. Helens NHS Sexual Health, The World of Glass, St. Helens Arts in Libraries and Owl & Hare Marketing & PR.
The World of Glass will be open as usual throughout.
