Launch of a free Cheshire and Merseyside Women’s Health and Maternity APP 20th January 2025

We are pleased to announce the launch of a free NHS Cheshire and Merseyside (C&M) Women’s Health and Maternity APP.

A new APP has been launched where you can get information on women's maternity and Baby's health, mental health, periods and contraception, menopause, immunisations, pregnancy and infant feeding and pelvic health.

Developed with input from national and local clinicians and service users, the APP has been created to improve access to timely, high-quality evidence-based, clinically safe, non-profiteering, information, services, and treatment, specific to women’s health, including where to access support across Cheshire and Merseyside.

The national and C&M Women’s Health strategies set out several commitments to improve the health of all women, including the need for more trusted and easier to understand information on a range of women’s health issues, to enable women and the wider society to equip themselves with accurate information about women’s health.

The APP provides information to women, all those born female and all those who may need to access Women’s Health services across their life course.

Programme Director Catherine McClennan, who led on the project for NHS Cheshire and Merseyside, said: “We know that the huge amount of information online can be overwhelming for a lot of women and that there is a lot of misinformation available.

“We wanted to provide a virtual one-stop shop where NHS and trusted information and advice on all aspects of women’s health can be available whenever it’s needed so that women can feel empowered to make the best decisions for themselves and their families.”

Dr Fiona Lemmens, Deputy Medical Director of NHS Cheshire and Merseyside and Liverpool GP, said: “This is a fantastic resource for women and girls which will help them to find up-to-date accurate information specific to women’s health all in one place, supporting them to manage their health and wellbeing and make positive health choices.”

Users can select their region and language (information is available in &% languages). We can continually upload information into the APP, and we will continue to engage with users to obtain feedback to inform further development of the APP.

The app can be downloaded for free via Google Play and the Apple App Store.
