Have your say over new specialist cancer centre

RESIDENTS in St Helens are being invited to have their say over proposals for a new specialist cancer centre in Liverpool.

During the session on Monday February 3rd 2014 from 3:30-5:30pm at Thatto Heath Library, on Thatto Heath Road, local people will be given the opportunity to ask questions, find out about the feedback collected so far and will be given information on the next steps for the proposed cancer centre.

The brand new centre, which will be situated next to the Royal Liverpool University Hospital and the University of Liverpool, will be the single biggest step towards developing first class cancer services for the region.

If the centre is given the go-ahead, patients in Merseyside and Cheshire will for the first time have access to inpatient oncology, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, cancer surgery, critical care, outpatient services and research all on one site.

A series of roadshows will take place throughout the region during the next couple of months – including the one being held in St Helens.

A further consultation is planned for summer 2014 before final plans are submitted.
